Homemade pasta

It had been a long time since we made our own pasta so last weekend it was time to dust off (literally!) the pasta machine and get stuck in.  The girls loved it and helped out great!

Floortje's writing

Floortje is very much into her writing at the moment.  The result of this is that her teacher, friends at school and Thijs, Famke and I are getting lots of mail.  I just had to share the next series with you, translation below :)!

Super homework Famke, I love you Famke, SUPER, You are the star in Texas, Texas Longhorns yes, Famke is the best homework one in the world

As you can make up from the words, there is a definite Texas influence already!

50th day of school

November 1st was the 50th day of the school year. As this is the first year of school for most of the kindergarten kids they make a big deal of this. Floortje had to go dressed up in 50's clothes. When she asked me what the 50's were, I told her 'that was when opa, oma and poezeoma were little' 'Wow' she said. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of her outfit.

The funniest thing of the day was when she came home carrying a paper record she had made at school and said: 'look mum, a CD from the 50's!'

Red ribbon week

Last week was red ribbon week at school.  This is a week where kids are taught to "say no to drugs'.  Every day there was a theme and they had to dress up some way or another.

Monday - Wear red
Tuesday - Crazy socks
Wednesday - Animal print
Thursday - Stripes
Friday - Book character parade

Here some pictures of the 'crazy socks' and book character costumes.  Famke dressed up as the jellyfish from 'Fishcakes and Jelly' and Floortje was the witch from 'Room on the Broom'

Halloween

Finally!  It was the 31st of October, the girls had been waiting for this for weeks!  Costumes on, candy pumpkins ready and as soon as it got dark we set of in the neighborhood.  Famke chose the Cleopatra outfit as she is vey interested in Tutankhamun and Egypt and Floortje wanted to be a Bumblebee.  My, of course unbiased, opinion as a mum is that my girls looked very cute!

Amazing to see to what lengths some people go to decorate their garden!

One nice employee of Anheuser-Busch decided that the mums deserved a treat as well so I was given a Michelob Ultra, a hat and a country CD to help me continue my journey.

And this is what we ended up with!  More than 4 kg of sweets!
